How To Cut A Baby’s Hair

When a child is born, one of the curiosities of parents is to find out what color their hair and eyes are: but disappointment is just around the corner! The eyes for the first few days may be of an undefined color, while many babies are born without hair or with a fuzz more similar to the fetal fleece. It is very likely, in fact, that as they grow up they change completely. Some moms hope that cutting them often will strengthen them and grow faster. But how to cut a child’s hair correctly?
Baby’s Hair
The first hair of the child is often fine, more like fluff than the hair as adults and children have, sometimes they don’t have any! In the first six months of life, newborns lose their birth hair altogether to make room for new ones. For the first few months, therefore, it will be enough to wash them with mild soap as is done on the rest of the body.
It is not true that by cutting them they will grow faster and stronger: this only applies if the hair is damaged and has so-called split ends because it will tend to wear out in the lower part and give the impression of not growing. It is therefore impossible that it concerns newborns! Rather, cutting them allows you to eliminate the old ones, and gradually when they grow up, the new ones will be stronger because they are different from those of birth. But they would pop up anyway!
Cut Baby Hair
It is therefore not necessary to cut the baby’s hair, unless you do it for aesthetic reasons or to keep him cooler if he has many and suffers from the heat in the hottest months. If you think they need to be cut, however, contact a professional: it is not easy to handle scissors with a newborn who never stands still, so do not take unnecessary risks.
Cutting Children’S Hair At Home: Tips

It is different when the child begins to grow and needs a trimmed cut or a trim: you can do it too without having to resort to the hairdresser.
It will be more difficult to cut male hair at home, because if the cut is short you may not be able (it is still a profession for which you study and practice, let’s not forget it). However, if you are satisfied with a brush cut, you just need to use an electric razor: dads are particularly good at this!
Cutting the hair of girls (or boys with long hair !) Is easier, because generally, it is a clean cut that does not require great skills. Here are the tips:
- get yourself a pair of hair scissors, which are very sharp but with rounded ends (especially if you are going to cut the bangs)
- cut your hair when it is dry, combing it carefully
- place the baby or toddler on a stable surface, at a comfortable height for you (you don’t have to bend over to be more precise)
A trick to cutting long hair (a few centimeters or many does not matter) is to tie the hair, well combed, in a very tight ponytail at the nape of the neck. Once collected, the elastic is lowered to the height at which you want to cut, and there it is cut.
For girls’ hair cutting, the ” unicorn ” technique can also work: the hair is combed forward, on the forehead, where it is collected and then cut with the same principle. Thus, instead of rights, they will be scaled.
Cutting bangs at home is also possible, but only if you feel confident and if the children are of an age where they stand still.
If the fringe is not there and must be created, it can be done by initially creating a line in the center of the head (the famous line in the middle), then, from a point about 5cm from the forehead, pass the comb on one side diagonally, up the ear.
Carry out the same operation on both sides, finally comb the hair so collected forward and cut. In case it is not clear, you can still learn by watching one of the many video tutorials on the internet!
Cutting children’s hair at home is possible with a few tricks and a steady hand: and if the result is not perfect, don’t worry, they will grow back!
